HERO

Hero

Today I lost my hero

He slowly faded away

It hurts to lose a hero

It’s hard to know what to say

I tried to prepare for today

Hoped for a different way

But now my hero’s gone

I’ll find a way to carry on

Maybe I can be a hero

But I’ll never fill your shoes

I’ve got to be myself but

I don’t know what to do

Your face was full of kindness

Compassion shining through

Touching those encountered

Jesus shown through you

Now I know I’ll be a hero

I’m not the same as you

I’m gonna be a hero

I’ll do my best for you

Thinking of your dad, and all your family, today... no man ever has, or ever will, have the impact on my life that he did. I'm glad he is home, but I miss him so much already.

How wonderful it is to see your father in you: you think like he did, you speak like he did, and even though you may not be able to see it, I see him in you.

No wonder he (and your mom) are so proud of you!

I always enjoyed when your dad was in town and we’d have dinner with you guys. Your dad is one of those people that immediately upon meeting them you have this great sense of respect. A kind, humble, gentle spirit of few words, but when he spoke, I remember hanging on every word. Sometimes it was insightful, sometimes it was funny…either way, you were in for a treat. When I was around you guys, it was obvious that your dad was proud of you. Thanks for how you’ve poured into myself and others. I still have one of his books he signed for me. I’ll always cherish that.
Love ya & praying that the "God of all comfort" will be very present with your family,
Cupp

Garland & Kelly...
I don't know if you'll remember me, but it's Ginger Gosney (now Eldridge) from back in the early 80's at DCS and NTBC. I used to sing in church and be involved with the youth group.

First of all, I am SO happy to have found your blog! And your pictures! You both look wonderful! Kelly, you are just as beautiful as when I met you!!!

I found out about our Hero going Home through Donna Trigg Beal on Facebook, and wanted to send you my love and sympathy during this time.

fyi, I posted a picture of him at my graduation (DCS '85) on my blog yesterday.

Love,
Ginger
